Discover the property of Chateau de Riveneuve

The Domaine de Riveneuve is a great place to get together with family and friends, and has been renovated to provide a relaxing break for young and old alike. The 2.5 hectare park, with its secure swimming pool, offers plenty of space for children to play freely, while allowing adults to relax in the shade of the tall trees. For a wedding, everything has been thought of to ensure that the different moments of your celebration are a success: the aperitif in the park or under the courtyard pergola, the ceremony under the magnolia tree, the dinner in the main hall. In the evening, the illuminated park becomes a fairytale setting.

Principal living and reception rooms

As the only masters of the house during your stay, you can organise your stay as you wish, prepare your party with your best friends, and entertain your guests in the elegant lounges on the ground floor. The grand salon is reminiscent of the splendours of yesteryear, with its carved stone fireplace and paintings by Jules de Lahondès, who owned the château in 1850. The dining room is bright and friendly, with refined wood panelling and a coffered ceiling. For a wedding, the large reception room, with its exposed stone walls and wrought iron pergola, is ideal for a festive dinner. This large room opens onto the Emmanuelle lounge on one side and the red lounge of the Tour du Pastel on the other.

Our bedrooms

The château’s bedrooms have retained the romantic charm of the grand family homes of yesteryear, with their antique furniture, silk curtains and boutis bedspreads. Some overlook the park, while others have a magnificent view of the Pyrenees to the south. In the west wing, the rooms are decorated in a simpler, cosier style, inspired by pastel blues and Orientalist paintings. A sauna and cinema invite you to relax. Throughout the house, you’ll find bookcases filled with books. What could be more pleasant after a day’s skiing in the nearby Pyrenees or a gym session in the gym, to relax in the sauna before watching a good film in your private cinema?

At the first floor, the “chamber pastel” with its beautiful pastel blue cement tiles. On the second floor, the sauna with a breath-taking view out on the Pyrénées. Nothing is more pleasant than relaxing in the sauna after skiing in the nearby Pyrénées, before enjoying a film in your private cinema room.

History

A seventeenth century manor,  Riveneuve once belonged to the Baron of Ornolac. It was enlarged and decorated by Jules Lahondès who inherited it in 1850. He was a painter, a student of Joseph Latour, renamed historian, archaeologist and President of the Academy Jeux Floraux in Toulouse.  On his return from a trip to Italy, he painted  scenes from Rome and Venice, especially the gardens of the Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome as mural paintings which decorate the living room. The canvas was restored with the help of VMF (Vieilles Maisons Françaises). He carved the fireplace with its coat of arms and those of the family of Exea for the wedding of his son Joseph to the daughter of the Marquise of Exea. One of his paintings represents his dog Linda in the foreground of  the castle was also restored.

Catherine and Hervé Gasiglia bought Riveneuve in 2000 and have lovingly restored into a large warm family home where they receive their children and friends. In their absence, they are happy to allow others to meet up with their families and friends.
