The main residence was rebuilt in 1622. Originally owned by the Mareschal family, it was inherited by the Pitegny family, who then sold it to the Cologny family in the early 16th century. Later, the Château des Arts was acquired by Jean-François Payronnet, surgeon and provost of Gex, in the 18th century. The fortified house, which has undergone significant alterations over the centuries, still features a well bearing the Livron family coat of arms. The gateway leading to the inner courtyard is topped by a double-sloped roof and features a double entrance that is rare in the Pays de Gex: a small but elegant entrance topped by a beautiful brace, and a basket-handle entrance. These entrances, dating from the early 16th century, are an unusual feature in the region.
